The Emmett Ferret Shelter is a 501(c)3, Federal non-profit, no-kill shelter located in Emmett, Idaho that was founded in 2001. Although we are located in Emmett, we rescue ferrets from all over Eastern Oregon and Western Idaho, including Boise, Nampa, Eagle, Meridian, Caldwell, McCall, Homedale, Weiser and many other cities.
Why adopt, and why adopt from us?
- They're already trained and handled daily!
- We microchip all our ferrets for extra security!
- All ferrets are up-to-date on their vaccinations and ADV negative!
- We feed a premium diet and get them in tip-top shape before you adopt!
- All ferrets receive a check-up, or a certificate for a free check-up, by a veterinarian that specializes in ferrets!
- We're not a pet store that's trying to make money off you -- In 2006, less than 50% of the money that directly goes toward caring for the ferrets came from adoption fees!
- We know their personality, socialize them with other ferrets, cats, dogs, and children, and can help you find the ones that will fit best with your lifestyle!
- We want you to be successful and our ferrets to find a permanent home - All adoptions include a two-week trial period during which you can try other ferrets, or get a refund.
- We're a tax-deductable federal non-profit 501(c)3 organization!
Other services we provide:
- Boarding (with current distemper vaccination and proof of a recent negative ADV test)
- ADV testing
- Low-cost ferret supplies including bedding, cages, toys, bowls/bottles, shampoos, etc
- Advice on ferret care, training, and medical and health issues
